Clutch and flywheel will work you'll need the e21 slave clutch arm and throw out bearing.

The throw out bearing you'll need depends on the diameter of the clutch either 215 or228 mm, if you get your parts from a well known 2002 part vendor they'll fix you up with the right one. You'll also need a longer clutch master to slave hose.

Note the e21 slave cylinder contrary to any known logic mounts with the bleeder facing down.

Thats a great resource but it should be noted that the game has changed somewhat since it was published 19 years ago.

For example: the 4 bolt output flange that is recommended to simplify the driveshaft mod is pretty much unobtanium now.

Another thing that is fast becoming unobtanium, is an actual, fully functioning ready to install Getrag 245 5 speed transmission.

Most of the units being offered are defective in some way or another and internal parts to repair are also unobtanium.

Unfortunately the 245 gearbox is heading for extinction.

Lots and lots of threads here on the FAQ regarding 245 scarcity and issues. good luck!

Good luck at finding it all in one place in a logical order without a bunch of unrelated text interspersed.

A radiator shop is a good place to take a leak.

I have no idea what I'm doing but I know I'm really good at it.

Remove 4- speed.

Bash tunnel where the clutch secondary cylinder goes.

Install 5 speed.

Measure driveshaft, and have front section shortened by that amount.

Measure shift linkage and shorten that, too.

Make something to hold up the back of the 5 speed.   DON'T make it super- butch.

Bolt together.  Reroute speedo cable so it reaches.  Likewise, the back- up lights.

Fuss with alignment until it mostly doesn't hit the tunnel.

Drive.

Repeat the fussing.

There, all done.
