Hi All,

I’m looking for

1.  a 19mm e10 lug wrench

2.  Right rear window latch, late (black) style.

3.  1976 3.90 open differential.

4.  Behr A/C unit and side panels

Appreciate the help!

On eBay now is an open differential that might be a 3.90:

Good condition 1968 - 1976 BMW 2002 E10 open differential. Cleaned, degreased and painted. From a 1976. Mounting bolts not shown, but included.

Since they only appeared on 49-state versions of U.S. 1976 model 2002’s, they are not common.

This poor thing looks like it was dipped in a bucket of black paint, so the stampings and casting date are a bit hazy.

But, looking at the first photo below, I believe we’re looking at “10    39” for the pinion and ring gear teeth, yielding the magic 3.90. Below that is a “3” for March and, possibly, a “6” for 1976. If so, the unit was manufactured March 1976. Looking at the second photo, the housing’s casting date is pretty hard to read: I see anything from May 24, 1975 (if “24575”) to March 24, 1976 (if “24376”).

In addition, the seller says it came out of a 1976, but lots of ‘02 differentials have been swapped by now. So I wouldn’t rely solely on that historical tidbit!

Caveats: most ‘02 differentials still retain their original, factory ratios — OK, they’re mostly 3.64, except for 1600-2’s that had 4.10’s or 4.11’s — but occasionally the ring and pinion gears have been swapped to a different ratio. Open it to verify the gearing. And, who knows the mileage, history, or condition of a 46-year-old differential without having a professional inspect the innards? 😯🙄

Regards,

Steve

Great read on this diff - I will contact the seller to see if he can send better pics of the stamping on the case - thanks!
