Tobacco door cards

The brown available from 1974 onward was Nylon Brown (sometimes referred to as Beige by BMW). Chocolate Brown, Tobacco, and Saddle were the three round taillight “browns”. Nylon Brown is lighter than all three of the round taillight browns. While all door cards will fit all years, the square taillight (post-1973) door cards had less chrome trim than the round taillight (pre-1974) door cards and lacked the black vinyl trim across the top of the card.

Stated differently, the factory didn’t produce Tobacco door cards for square taillight cars. You can put Tobacco door cards on a 1974, but the factory didn’t.

Below, from a February 1974 paint and upholstery brochure, is the concordance, followed by the exterior colors, followed by the interior colors (K 0007 being the all-vinyl interior found in U.S. ‘02’s from 1974 onward).

Regards,

Steve
