agreed, I'm pretty adept in that category.

Like the time I used a double row timing chain master link on a single row gear.

slip spline for the win.  I agree it is a better choice.  Kinda why I started the thread to see if the one I used ( see above) was actually from a 84-85 318i.  But I guess if one is gonna make some modifications anyway, you could use any shaft that fits up in there. As long as the CSB position is correct.   

 

The quest continues for the answer on a low cost mild plug N play upgraded shaft to use.  

 

At least for me.

No, not plug and play but is functioning quite well.

Requires :

An afternoon

Drill 2 holes in your car

A few clamps

Sawzall with good metal blade

Drill with a bit set

a welder.

Some stock to work with (short stuff scrounged from bargain bin at Coyote Steel)

A modicum of metal working skill ( or normal intelligence, willingness to learn and several afternoons😉)

Want to go back to stock or something different? No problem just remove it.

Picked up the 84 E30 DS off eBay a few years ago for around $175.

It needed a CSB.
