This is actually a step in the right direction.

Novel idea, never really known anyone keep a car once the warranty has expired 😉

  • dlacey changed the title to BMW says 'keep old cars' !

I have been saying this for years.

Problem with the BMWs with Phone & Navigation systems is they are either LTE or 3G & no longer supported by BMWs 5G, which will be obsolete with 7G.

Our older analog BMWs are fine.

I recall learning in my high school auto shop class that a top-of-the-line Lincoln, costing something like $4500 at retail then, would cost about $35,000 to DIY using new parts from the dealer’s parts department — and that was only the cost of the parts. So  she’s getting either fired or promoted as we write.😁

Shame about all the biodegradable plastics that guarantee planned obsolescence, then, huh?

E90's are the 'bottom of the barrel' now- everything older is a 'classic'.

BMW's preaching to the choir--at least on this site...

Although I did update my '73 this summer--progressed from a 1987 Alpine AM/FM/cassette stereo to a 2001 Pioneer AM/FM/CD player!  I've joined the 21st century!  The cassette player remains in my '69, though...and I may backdate it to a more period Blaupunkt AM/FM radio...

Yikes.  My wife’s 2011 335 now has over 114k.   I cringe thinking about replacing it.  One of the last holdouts with an actual straight six and manual ebrake.

My 2011 335xi has over 160k miles.  It has been expensive to maintain, but I can't imagine going any newer.  I am thinking of going backwards from here on out.
