E30 Sunroof Adjustment

So the sunroof on my e30 does not close all the way on its own, it stops about an inch short of closed.  It’s an electric sunroof, so I have to stand outside the car and help the panel close fully by pushing it with my hand while pressing the switch.  I’ve noticed it stops around the area where the wind deflector closes down, so I’ve lubricated  all the moving parts of the deflector and it moves very easily and doesn’t appear to be causing the issue with the panel not closing, anyone have any ideas?

Do you have a Bentley service manual?  I have one and can look for you..

 

Did you already ask this on R3V?

I don’t have the Bentley manual but I will post over on R3V.  To be honest the sunroof is the only issue with the car so I haven’t had the need to get any repair manuals.  I just had the timing belt replaced, which is the only wrenching that’s it’s needed and I had a local import shop do it, not me.  Posted a pic of the e30 with my Z4, Silverado, and a corner of my benz in the garage.   Also, 16 years with the Tii this month I believe!

I would advise you to look for the original sunroof as a complete assembly. It might be available at a salvage yard somewhere.
