Dyno'd My Car

I put my car on a chassis dyno in '16.  It's a '72 euro tii, w/non-rebuilt orig engine.  Probably 150k on it, at least. 

 

It hit about 91 HP, and 101 FT LBs of torque (at the rear wheels).  Since then, I've installed a distributor with the correct curve...at the time of the dyno session, it did not have the right curve.  I'd like to take it back, play with the ignition, and look at the AFR.  See if there are any simple gains to be had.

 

That would be more fun that having the engine rebuilt.  Financially.

In my experience Dyno's are calibrated that badly that you can only compare before after changes on the same dyno (preferrably on the same day).
Comparing data from dyno A to dyno B is prone to be not (really) comparable when it comes to absolute figures.

I've been speaking to a Engine Engineer that ran the Mercedes Formula 1 dynos for 8 Years first in Switzerland and later in England and his comment to the "common" dynos that are floating around in real life are not repeatable in public.

Exactly.
he said that even their state of the art Temperature controlled Barometric pressure controlled environments had "good days" and "bad days" which could be  more than ± 1% so they always were calibrated before any runs.

We have  a company in germany that has some quite nice Dynos.

88 whp sounds about right for a stockish M10.

Chassis dynos are interesting beasts. My tuner calls his "The Disappointer."

Here are the sheets from my first session, when my engine still had the 318i intake.

EFI converted, Electromotive ECU and ignition, 9.5:1 pistons, IE 292 cam ...

Ooo, a cheap shot from the back of the room. Come on, let’s compare apples to apples here. There were tiny econo cars even in the ‘02’s day. A ‘71 Honda N600 weighed 1213lbs! I don’t even mean to compare a 3-Series. A 1-Series, or a Ford Focus, Toyota Carolla, Honda Civic, VW Jetta. Unless they’re stripper base models, they’re all at least 3000lbs, and some closer to 3500…

Miata, 2320 with a tank of gas which is probably what most roundies with the typical upgrades weigh(Recaros, 5spd, sway bars, volvo/e21 brakes, and 15" wheels).
