WTB Single Borrani 13x5.5"

This is the last stop before I cut my losses with this set. I'm looking for a single 13x5.5" Borrani steelie. After stripping my wheels I noticed a pinhole near the valve hole, nobody will weld it closed and I'm not sure I want to rebarrel the wheel. So... If anyone has a spare 13x5.5" kicking around, please let me know. Any other ideas or thoughts on the situation are welcome as well. Thanks.

That’s only a partially serious response. There are at least two caveats:

 

1. Are you able to poke through any more holes in that badly rusted area? The issue is whether the rim is structurally sound, despite the rust damage. And the rim might remain sound, as CMR rims are notoriously heavy and overbuilt. A steel rim repair guy I used in Greenville, SC, said that straightening them was a major undertaking because they used thick steel to build them.

 

2. Leaving that hole open — and it probably has fairly sharp edges — seems like a threat to a rubber tube.

 

I’m surprised that no one will weld it. There’s usually some guy who’s not worried about remote liabilities. Have you tried a steel rim repair shop — most are truck rim shops willing to dabble in an automotive rim?

Are three other wheels in similar shape with pitting? 

 

I would buy all four and re-barrel them using my guy down here in Socal. It could be a good solution for these wheels.
