Heater box rebuild questions

Rebuilding the heater box. The heater box rebuild article mentions a resistor heat shield, made out of aluminum, picture as below. What are people using?

I pulled an image from someone else. Mine isn't assembled yet. Unfortunately I don't have the original.

What is the tab I've marked for? Guessing it is an attachment point for mounting the box but not certain.

I think I cut a piece of an aluminum can and fit it there.

Glue it in place? Not sure what kind of temperature the glue needs to tolerate, and one that won't off gas every time I turn the heater on

I don't think it needs glue if I remember correctly. The old one wasn't glued, just folded over both sides of that shelf piece.

When I rebuilt my heater box a few years ago that original aluminum piece was loose in the bottom of the heater box.  I put a dab of epoxy to keep it in place.  Like others have said, a piece of aluminum can should work fine.  Good luck,

I believe that's where one of the under dash panels connects to.

Correct. The rectangular cardboard piece that fits behind the glovebox screws to that point.
