Piston/Head Questions

I have a spare E12 head and block and was looking at the pistons below.  The block is out for analysis, but I need confirmation on these pistons.

  • Do these look like piano tops?
  • They appear to be 9.3 compression, is that the standard USA Tii pistons?
  • They can be used with an E12 based on what I found on the FAQ, correct?

Thanks

Murph

Not to me, they look like pistons for the E21 2.0 head.

piston in the pic is a Mahle and those are KS but whatever

Have them in my watchlist as well...

Pic 2 is a piano top

Thanks @tech71 I have to agree with you, they do look like the E21 style of pistons.  Thanks for the photos.

This is not a good photo from which to judge the type of piston.  How about re-creating one of @tech71’s photos with your pistons?

But if they say 9.3 on them, they’re likely not tii pistons. U.S. tii’s were generally 9.0, Euro tii’s were generally 9.5. 9.3 is, indeed, a compression ratio found on some rare Euro-spec e21 cars (the type, not the head) with E21 2,0 heads.

Here's another picture which gives clarity as to the type.  I don't own the pistons.  Seller sent the photos.

As said previously, not for an E12 head!

Worthwhile if you have an E21 2,0 head!

Those be pretty rare these days, I would grab them except I already managed to pick up a set. Took some doing, after a long dry spell, a few sets have cropped up on Ebay.

Bought mine from a seller in Egypt with no issues.

Hoping to get them into Survivors original engine (76 49 state 02 with E21 2.0 cyl head) at some point.
