Fuel pump

Recommended Posts

There is no fuel pump in the gas tank, only a pickup tube.

The fuel pump is mounted under the rear subframe. There is a modern bosch replacement that fits fine.

However if you referring to the Kugelfischer mechanical pump in the engine bay. You cannot buy those. You will need to send it off for rebuilding which takes 6 months and costs $1000.

This modern fuel pump is slightly smaller than the stock OEM fuel pump so it will sit loose in the OEM bracket. Cut a piece of hose and slit it to act like a gasket wrapped around the outer diameter of the fuel pump to help it sit nice a tight in the mount.

Could be the pump suction screens need cleaning.  Clogged screens will make sounds like pump trouble.  In tank suction screen and pump inlet screen.

A radiator shop is a good place to take a leak.

I have no idea what I'm doing but I know I'm really good at it.
