BMW 2002 FAQ Intro Message!

Hi all!, This is the intro message that is going to appear on the FAQ page in a few minutes. Dan is still working on the sub-indexes, but it should all be up and running momentarily. You all might want to bookmark the main index page and email it to a few hundred of your closest friends... And here is the LONG intro message:

02/02/2002 (8:02pm): Hello all! WELCOME to the Newest BMW '02 Community Resource: The BMW 2002 FAQ! We have a bunch of tech articles that are now available on this site, all, as you can see, indexed above. We hope that they will provide the entire '02 Community with information that will help them to restore, maintain, and upgrade these wonderful little cars, and keep them on the road well into the future!

More than anything else we would like to emphasize that this site is 100% done by 02ers, for 02ers. We are operating this out of our own pockets (really SteveK's pockets) at the moment, but hope to either secure some sponsorship or try to be self-sustaining through the sale of T-shirts and the like.

In any event this site will ALWAYS be a non-profit site. It will never be the case that a sponsor or anyone else will be able to pressure us to alter or control the content within the FAQ or on the Message Boards. We want it to be a TRULY community-based site set up and run to serve the wonderful community of '02ers out there, worldwide.

As is probably obvious, we are just getting started with this FAQ project. When we first conceived of the idea, we imagined a single source for ALL of the information one needs to restore, maintain, and upgrade an '02, all in one place. We have X articles currently posted, and invite you to browse through the index above and take a look at what we've got for you.

Unfortunately, due to time and other constraints, we were not able to include photos and many part numbers with the articles. These features will be added as we go forward. Also, some of the information may not be as complete or comprehensive as some of you may like, and we invite you to please participate in this project and let us know what we are missing or contribute your own photos to help illustrate the ideas conveyed in the articles themselves!

Finally, if you have a project you've done in the past, or would like to write your own article for inclusion here, we would love to have you participate in that way as well. Even if you have your own individual website with information that would make a good FAQ article, please submit it for inclusion here! We want this to be YOUR site, with ALL the information YOU need to help keep up, restore, and upgrade your '02. Furthermore, if you have information that will help others as well, again, please participate and contribute to the efforts here!

I'd like to thank Steve Kupper for his Message Board Maven-ness, Dan Kozan for his design and HTML-ery, Trent Tilton for his design, HTMLing, article, and other contributions, and Sam Schultz and Chris Blumenthal for their articles and helping us get started so far.
