Where did you drive your 2002 today?

…drove the newest addition to the stable hard this afternoon around a small patch of South Denver. (Just a Brillat drive — very well suited to the local LeRug circuit).

one thirty second scale fun 🥸

Last night had to take my daughter to a church function- she asked to take the '02!  Then today my co-worker had set up an informal "Bring your toy to work day" car show in the back parking lot (So in the past 24 hours I've put 80 miles on the car!).  Had a good turnout of American muscle, modified modern BMWs, my '02 and a friend's '72 240z.  The 240z was neat- my first time sitting in one.  The shifter falls right to hand and has well-defined gates, but the pedals were spaced a bit far apart.  With a large transmission tunnel, seemed like would be a challenge for heel-toe shifting.  Conversely, he was amazed at how close together and to the right the pedals were on my '02!

Had several people come to see my '02 first, several shared stories about being driven around in these cars when they were kids!

I crossed the line yesterday....

....into New Hampshire.

10 South out of Woodsville.

Left onto 25 towards Plymouth.

Left onto 118 (freshly paved!) towards Woodstock.

Left onto 112 through Kinsman Notch.

Right onto 302 towards Littleton and finally onto 91N (for the dash back to VT)

Lots of twists and loop-d-loops !

An EPIC drive...was having so much fun I never stopped for a picture 🙃

Drove the 02 to a local Cars & Coffee, Griffith Park (Los Angeles, CA).
First time on the freeway. Felt fine at 75-80 mph, better than expected lol.
Got a lot more attention than I was expecting at the show too. Lots of attention on the way there and back, with a half dozen random waves and thumbs up.

There was more than just BMWs but that’s all I’m posting here lol.

Then drove home along Mulholland Drive. That was fun too. Car feels good. Rides a bit stiff on the freeway but feels at home in the twisties. Falken Azeniz tires are plenty sticky.

I may be a little biased but I live in one of the best places to drive my car.

Northeast VT and Northern NH has some of the best secondary roads with spectacular scenery and minimal traffic (especially midweek).

I cruised for about an hour yesterday and never had another car in front of me (this is a regular occurrence)

Still haven't encountered another 1600/2002 but did see (coming in the opposite direction) an early 914 one time. He looked as surprised as I did !

Terry & Debbie Sayther and I have been traveled the last two days in our Baurs up to Santa Fe from Austin. Tomorrow We are starting a seven day drive up into Colorado with the BMW Classic Club….

We all should be members of the BMW classic club. The BMW Classic quarterly magazine is much more connected to our vintage car interest.

Drove into town for a physical therapy appointment early in morning. Took the scenic route up River Rd, cool, no traffic…nice.

The drive was awesome, physical therapy appointment not so much😉

Another perfect (3hr) Northern VT cruise.

RT2 toward Lancaster NH

Left onto 102 toward Bloomfield VT.

Left on 105 toward Charleston VT.

Left on 5A toward Burke VT.

And finally a skee-daddle home on 91S.

Dips, twists and plenty of scenery.

Almost feel a bit selfish having the road to myself !

I like driving too much to stop for picture taking...you'll have to trust me or try the route 🙂

My girlfriend and I drove our Jensen-Healey roadster out to Maine and back in 2019 (via Toronto!) as part of a Lemons Rally. I can't say if we were on any of the roads you mention, but we drove around Isle La Motte looking for rally checkpoints, and drove across VT to Mt. Washington in NH (made it to the top, only had to stop twice to let the car cool down!). A beautiful area of the country, and it was quite hot at the time (early July).

Glad you were able to enjoy some New England roads !

Mt. Washington is on my list....I've taken the Sprite. Actually ran out of gas, (not that I didn't have enough) it was so steep the fuel went to the back of the tank and away from the pick up !

Drove Angeles Crest Highway (ACH) today. Every Friday there’s a group that drives up (separately) to an abandoned restaurant up there, Newcombs Ranch. The group is informally called Good Vibes Breakfast Club. Someone does bring coffee and donuts lol. I hardly ever make it due to Friday morning standing meetings but this Friday, July 5th, I’m off.

And it was a big turnout.

ACH is all flowing fast turns. I was able to keep a steady 65mph, slowish on the straights, challenging on the turns. Car is working reasonably well. Handles well enough for now.

I was the only 2002 and it got its share of attention. There was one other heading down as I was heading up though, a red one.

Fun day!

@Pablo M GVBC is a cool gathering, I've only attended once as I work Mon-Fri, had a day off a couple of years ago. ACH is a great driving road, but I don't love the actual experience, too many inexperienced yahoos and influencers pushing it a bit too hard. The price of a mistake is real. I prefer to fan outward to less populated areas, glad that isn't my "local" twisty mountain road . . . .
