@Pablo M GVBC is a cool gathering, I've only attended once as I work Mon-Fri, had a day off a couple of years ago. ACH is a great driving road, but I don't love the actual experience, too many inexperienced yahoos and influencers pushing it a bit too hard. The price of a mistake is real. I prefer to fan outward to less populated areas, glad that isn't my "local" twisty mountain road . . . .

I agree completely.
I work M-F too, but can sometimes take a Friday morning off. I’ve only been once before as well.
I was talking with my friends who joined me and we all agree we prefer Malibu canyons (our local canyons). They’re tighter and having an issue in 2nd gear is much less dangerous than having an issue in 4th gear, like at ACH.

Also agree there is more money than talent on that road.
I prefer driving it early weekdays when it’s nearly empty, if at all.
Years ago, when I rode motorcycles, I spent a good year or two riding up here on every Friday morning. It was barren paradise.

Yep. I heard that too. I was hoping it was already open last Friday but that was wishful thinking. There’s probably permits that have to be renewed and such-months and months more probably.

My wife wanted some flowers, so a coastal cruise to the flower shop was in order.

Any excuse to drive!

A few weeks back, I also attended a C&C at Seaweed and Gravel in North County San Diego.  Pretty good turnout with an eclectic mix.

My son was home with his wife one last time before he PCSs to Germany for 3 years.  He hadn’t seen the Raffle car yet, but it was having the diff rebuilt.  Got it back on his last night in town so he got to experience it (and I got my first drive with a properly working diff).  He is in love with that analog experience and LOVES 2002s.  I think the smiles say it all.  A drive with your kids is one of lives greatest pleasures!

During my trip with the BMW classic club through New Mexico and Colorado, we
Drove our Baur to the top of pikes Peak today… very exciting drive and a beautiful view.

Is your Baur a tii or is it carb'd?  Just curious how a lowland Texas car did in that altitude...

It’s a carbureted car Weber 32/36, it’s running about 75% up here but we climbed right up pikes peak no problem second gear most of the way first gear the last couple thousand feet….

Altitude sorta takes the zip out of an M10.   This is why I put on a bit more power.

I hope the group is enjoying the trip.

A radiator shop is a good place to take a leak.

I have no idea what I'm doing but I know I'm really good at it.

I drove an '85 Vanagon out of Colorado Springs a couple years ago and its top speed increased by 10 MPH by the time we got to Kansas.
