Gauge cluster wiring and lighting

All those extra duties assigned to the big red warning light on the instrument cluster were no-no's for US spec cars.  The Feds thought Americans were too stupid to separate any functions other than warning of bad brake things, so we didn't get those nice choke on and, low fuel warnings that rest of the world cars came equipped with.  Pore, dumb Americans (per our own government).

I found a wiring diagram for euro-spec square-lights.

Trace the Brown/black wire from the #5 pin on the dash connector to see the two wires /one female connector for the choke.

Thanks for the great diagram.

Still not sure why I have no choke on this car then.

Ahhh, a euro spec square light!

@Henning was right!

Any of the indicated items on your picture will cause the red light on the instrument pod to light up.

Noted thanks. Interesting that this cable exists but there is no manual choke on this particular car. Just to make things more mysterious is that this car was imported from Japan a year ago.

No it isn't RHD but the ecode headlight beam pattern is for Left-hand traffic.

If anyone is interested in a JDM rear licence plate mount with side illumination let me know.
