Seven years in the making

Holy shit I did it!  I bought this car in March of 2017 and it looked like this:

Today I drove it out of the garage essentially finished. I wrapped the interior yesterday, then took a few hours solving a fuel issue this morning. After that, I got to drive again!  It’s been two years since I did that last.  I’m super happy.

Sure thing. I did an M20/g260 swap, custom exhaust, LSD, ground control suspension, Ireland/Wilwood big brakes, full interior and more.

I rebuilt the M20, but other than a chip and intake/exhaust it’s essentially stock.

Here’s the interior:

Some fun bits down under:

I hired out the exterior paint and the recovered Recaros, everything else was me. Hence the 7 years. 😂

Beautiful work.  Just curious, what size of Momo Prototipo did you use?  320mm, 350mm or 370mm?

So sanitary and inspiring.

I am 4 years in (started stripping it down for paint in Feb 2020) and hope to get mine out of the garage in time for the SoCal vintage.

Thanks guys!  Now I’m just driving it everywhere I go, I can’t help myself. 🤓

@JohnS, it’s a 370mm Prototipo from Revspeed. If there was a 390, I would have done it. With 7” wheels and sticky rubber, parallel parking takes a real steroid jerk.

Congrats Lucky! Super nice! It's good to hear the purr again, eh?

Maybe more of a roar, but yes, very nice. My exhaust isnt very quiet, but thankfully my soundproofing efforts really paid off. It’s crazy how much more civilized it is.

You're thinking exactly like me.  Same.  I just ordered a 370mm.  Glad they finally starting making them bigger than 350.

I have a M20 lying about and a tired M10. What are your impressions on it?

Mine was a tired M10 with an automatic when I bought it. Acceleration was really more of an academic theory than a reality in those days.

The M20 changed the car in all the right ways for me. Balance feels the same, but now there’s so so much power. It puts a smile on my face every time. And obviously the manual helps liven it up too.

The M10 is a great plant and can generate tons of power (for a price), but I specifically wanted to challenge myself with a swap. The whole project was just an excuse to learn a bunch of new stuff, perhaps biggest being the motor swap.  I had a lot of fun fabricating and sourcing everything to make it work.
