This is the first year of the 2002. Polaris Silver with sunroof. Original interior with original radio that include AM/FM and Shortwave.

 

Engine is upgraded to a Tii from 1973. Dual Weber 40 Carbs and Warneford manifold. Bored to fit Mahle 10:1 pistons with new valves, guides, rocker shafts. Distributor is also from 73 Tii. Electric fuel pump, no mechanical pump ever fitted to this engine. Front brakes and brake booster upgraded to 1973 Tii. Rear end is limiter slip from a 1981 320i as well as the 5 speed OD transmission. Kooglewerks front strut brace, chin spoiler and front brackets with Marchal 810 yellow fog lamps. I also have a reproduction trunk organizer with BMW logo as well as the original 1968 bumper, spare radiator and starter.

 

There are some minor paint issues and a small dent on the roof from the previous owner. This car runs great and is a perfect user but not quite ready for a concours event.

Below is a video where you can mostly hear the radio but I run it up into 4th gear and you can hear how smooth everything is.

Looks like a great example of an early 2002.  Do you have additional pictures of the underside of the car, the exterior and the interior?

Small world. 
My 1968 1600-2 was sold new at Peter Pan BMW. It’s been in Tennessee since 2009.
