Question on late bodies.

The 74-76 models have (I assume) a sound deadening sheet steel panel attached to the inside of the rear quarter panels. They are visible from the trunk. My question is, how are these affixed to the 1/4 panels? Did the factory use an adhesive?

I have a 75 shell which is relatively decent shape, after looking at it more closely after I stripped it. Initially, I had thought that the car had been rear-ended at some point in its life, but everything looks straight and proper. I am hoping that the panels just came unglued. I think I will restore it.

And the shell is Verona, one of my favorite colors. I think I've become attached to it already....

These double walled rear quarters are part of the rear impact protection that came with the big bumper cars.

This is a structural feature, not sound deadening.

It appears the two layers are joined by adhesive.
