Thanks to Richard's inspiration (http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/t,271023/highlight,/) a few of the Dayton-area 02 guys took a little drive on Saturday. I know we were a day late to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the 02's launch but it was a beautiful day for a drive and we enjoyed some good twisty roads.

It's very rare to see another 02 on the road around here and it was a real treat to follow Jim's '75 on our drive. Go to this link for more pictures and info on the drive --> http://www.maisgelb.com/News/2006/March18/40years.html.

A big 'thank you' to Mike for leading the way and showing us some new backroads. Get out and drive your 02... its a good thing to do!

Thanks for the nice pix Karl. It was great fun and we need to do these drives more often. Drive down to V at the V with us! Anyone else in this area that wants to do a drive like this, let us know and we'll go.

Quien Sabe road (altho more trees and greenery!) but it's a fun fifteen minutes of elevation changes, switchbacks and a twisty road down into the Little Miami River valley and back kup again. A fun day, even if part of the road was closed due to high water in the river.

And in celebration of spring coming today, they're forecasting 3-5" of snow tonight. Ahhhhhh....Ohio weather!

Larry,

Hopefully we'll see you on one of these outings. Are there any good roads in eastern Indiana? Maybe there's someplace midway where we could meet up...

The yellow car handles well enough but its a bit pokey. The engine is a stock 1.6 and it has a 3.64 rear end that the PO installed for more relaxed cruising. I'd really like to add a bigger carb and a 4.11 diff but for now its what I have available so I won't complain too much. There was a reason I was bringing up the rear in our convoy... I didn't want to slow them down too much!

Karl,

Keep me informed about future Ohio get-togethers. There are some nice places to drive in SE Indiana, so maybe we can meet in this area one of these days. The power/speed is all relative. I was driving a VW bus Westfalia conversion in So. Florida..on the interstate into a stiff headwind. slow but still fun.
