Why don't new posts bump thread back to top?

Why don't new posts bump thread back to top? Must be some very good reason, but for the life of me, I can't figure it out. Every other board that I use brings thread back to top when new post is made. Good info of general interest here settles to bottom where is lost.

Search seems to find very latest threads but then seems to rapidly fade into threads that have nothing to do with the search.

Even if new post brings a very old thread back to the top, it happened because the topic is, or has become current again. Not all posts are like FAQs but often contain a valuable piece of info for someone who needs it. My observation is that "back to top" boards get more posts and therefore possibly better info availability.

I have 4 generations of BMWs so work with 2002, e30, e28 and e34 boards.

Maybe I need tips on how to use BMW 2002 FAQ more effectively.

Go to your profile (at the bottom of the page on the forum homepage) and set "Topic Sorting (Thread "Bumping"):" to bumping ON

I used to hate the thread bump option but now its great. Dont miss anything :-)
