IT'S ALIVE!!!

Last night I finished all the wiring and checked off items on my safety list before I attempted to turn it over.

A little hesitation but it fired right up! I just need to make some minor adjustments and the motor is finished.

I'm pretty happy because I made a deal with my wife that I would get it running before our little girl is born, I have a little over a week to spare (Oct 19th)!

Thanks man! I know it's comical to read my first post after starting on the 73 and realizing then that it was beyond my budget to repair. Oh well, live and learn ;)

FWIW, if anyone wants a free '73 tii shell email me. It may be worth something to someone that can repair it... It also has all the paper work.

Thanks guys for your feedback ;)
Hey, that left front fender looks kinda familiar!! 8^)

hehe, both fenders are from you, I rattle canned one for looks ;) How's your project coming along? Did you get the flares mounted?

I got the fronts mounted and I just got the car back in my garage...so the real work begins...the front and rear suspension is in but needs minor finishing. I gotta get my blog goin'...I've been taking pics when I think about it.

Congrats on the motor startup!!

I've been pretty busy with our 2yr old daughter and the new baby girl that I haven't had much time to get any work done on the 2002. Not that I mind :) but now I am more anxious to get it finished. I did get a chance to go out and work on it yesterday and after several hours I was pretty disappointed since it seemed like I didn't get anything completed. I have some electrical issues that I need to get resolved and fix a mushy clutch but I did get a chance to take it for its first (unofficial) drive - I took it for a little spin around the block and luckily no problems!

Last weekend Aashish (Ash00) came by and spent the day welding over all my panels filling in all the lower trim holes and welding the front fenders to the nose as well as other spots. I've been stripping the rest of the car down to get ready for paint. The whole time I thought I'd stick with white but now that I'm seeing the old golf color I'm starting to rethink my paint choice. I am now strongly considering golf. I've never seen a turbo flared golf but if it looks as nice as the inka than I may just go for it.

Anyhow, here's a few pics of how it looks now. I just need to fill a few spots and then ready for paint!
