Progress on the bmw1602.com car ...** UPDATED 09/16/24 *

Brakes,,,,,,

Well as you may have seen I was going to go with a willwood setup.

Well we quickly realized that without further major fabrication it was not really feasable.

I would of needed to move the seat back, move the shifter back, move the steering wheel back

etc.. etc...

what made more sense? Since the goal is to race/drive the car and not keep it in a shop forever?

Rebuild the pedal box, buy new booster, master and go with the stock setup for now.

here is before and after....

After 10 years in the making.... the guys at Ronin Autowerks put my engine on a stand and fired it up for the first time! Looks like the lightweight flywheel and crank making it blip nice!

The revs seam to rise and fall nicely..... 10lbs off the crank and lightweight aluminum flywheel....

This build is a bit of a mystery.....no idea what power it will make...... to recap:

-IE medium compression "race pistons"  (which I think came from china) I dont think IE offers these pistons anymore.

-knife edged crank. 10 lbs lighter

-aluminum flywheel

-Webcam 304

-port matched

-38/38

-91 octane pump gas

-IE race header

-Petronix

-Crane ignition

A few months later....

Dash is housing new Autometer ultrallight gauges and a completely new wiring harness for the car has been completed.

Dash come off easily removing a few bolts and the new wiring harness for the gauges goes to one single conector and removes easily.

Items on order:

AEM airfuel gauge - Why not? help me jet the carb.

New 6pt. Harness - My old ones are expired and wont pass tech.

New Window net - old setup wont pass tech.

HANS device - in 2007 it was only recommended and not required. These days it's required and honestly i wouldn't want to race without one.

Due to the way the hans works....it only works in a frontal impact not a side impact.....now that I have a daughter I have a bit mreo concern with safety....so as much as I love my MOMO Carbon Kevelar/Carbon fiber seat..... it got to go.

Looking to replace it with a seat with side impact head support.

  • 1 year later...

Sweet bracket for my throttle linkage .... dimple die “speed holes” always welcome. They add more horsepower than stickers ? get some

Fuel lines plumed from fuel cell to the carb! Throttle linkage setup! Getting close to cranking this thing over! My engine bay used to be dirty oily and a mess.... always dreamed of a clean race winning enginebay. Thanks to@roninautowerks this thing is one step closer to passing tech and hitting the track!!
