Palo Alto Report- The Canucks are retreating! (long)

This reporter saw the Invadin' Canadians make it as far south as the Dubois ranch before the order was given to "Run away, run away!". It seems that the reinforcements from the South were too much for them. They were last seen beeing escorted back North as far as San Francisco with help from our Russian connection. We expect to have these "hosers" pushed back to the Oregon-Washington border by the beginning of the week, and back on their side of our obviously leaky border shortly after that! Rumours also surfaced that a Minnesota brigade was actually a diversion to allow these invaders to make it as far as they did. Allies in the frozen North?

Palo Alto was a sucess.

As has been said, too many cars/people to give quality time to either. It was an opportunity to make those connections between screen names and actual people. I am still suprised after several years to say, "Oh, THAT'S you?"

Thank yous:

Karl for being a true swapper- clearing out parts he didn't need to people that did for true swap meet prices.

BLUNT for making the trip out to PA and for the show donations. We'll not talk about the karting here.

Delia and Jay for adding class to the event.

Max from Maximillian for the cool hats and for supporting our addiction. I hope you felt welcome even when I made you park your other car across the street.

Dubois for being the most gracious host in the world. You amaze me.

Curt, Lisa, Arnie, Paul, and ALL the volunteers that worked so hard. Go have a donut, you earned it.

(music starts to wind up)

And THANKS to JP for doing this. Chill out, take a breath, and then write it up for the DFB. DON'T loose your pics this time!

The only BUMMER of the day was the fact that norm's ALPINA VIN badge on his coupe sprouted legs and ran away during the show. I can guarantee you we'll all be watching ebay for that to show up. :^(

I'll close with the all too common sight of Dubois back drive way.

We were talking about you at the show.

You should have told us and we would have gotten you down to Hollister for the BBQ at least.

Yea, Darius, you were definitely reported missing in action. We thought the Canadians had you gagged and bound in the back of that Volvo..

Next year or next event..

We've almost made it home again, but not quite. After leaving Dubois' ranch, we stayed in San Francisco with Davin(GREAT place, BTW Davin).

Next day we took a ferry to Saucilito(sp?), and had some great food. Got back to SanFran, and headed north up the 101. We stopped in Leggatt last night, and drove the V50 through the big redwood tree(classic shot), and then enjoyed the scenic route all the way to Grant's Pass, Oregon. After a stop in Portland to visit friends, we're now bedded down in Olympia, at a Motel 6. I asked if there was internet before we booked the room, and were told yes, yes there was. Ummmm, horseshit! There is no connection, so I'm actually typing this while sitting OUTSIDE, on a chair, stealing a connection from a townhouse complex across the street. Damn Motel 6!

We'll be home by early afternoon tomorrow.

No.

They were right.

There IS an internet connection.

It's just not theirs.

We did the same thing up in Fort Bragg. Tried to get the wireless at one of the hotels with no luck, but there is a bench right outside the public library with free internet. Gotta luv it!

Those drive through trees are pretty touristy, but you have to do it at least once. Scary when the lifted SUVs try to go through.

Did you guys stop at the Bigfoot store? Did you see the South Park school bus? Highway 101 has SO MUCH to see.

Yeah, gotta love "borrowed" wireless. I'm paying for this one though, it's COLD outside!

We did see the monster bus, actually 2 of them, in different towns! Saw the bigfoot store, but didn't stop, and yeah, the tree was touristy, but there was only us, and some cute girls from Colorado, so it was OK. Plus, it was pretty cool.

101 is definitely interesting for sure!

Now I sit, trying fruitlessly to digest Taco Bell in Olympia. Not fun.
