Installation of the rubber trunk lid bumpers (?)

What is the trick to installing the two rubber spacer/bumpers on the underside of the truck lid? Tried to install these last night without success.

Use a little window cleaner and push. Thats it. Just reinstalled them on my '74

a piece of a clothes hanger (about 6 inches) and poked it through the little hole that's on the rubber bumper. I made sure the tip introduced through the hole had no pointy edge to it ( I filed it in the grinder).

Worked fine for me.

I just used a shot of WD40 on the "nipple"...went right in.

I used Palmolive dish washing liquid and one of those bamboo skewers to help poke them in. 

 

Dinosaur Oil and rubber = No Bueno
