My 1600 runs too hot on the freeway, not bad in town - huh??

Yes. I suggested putting internal tooth lockwashers under the gauge nuts.

Don't bother. It didn't last. My fuel gauge still works fine, but my temp gauge went back to misbehaving after a few weeks. The theory is still correct, but that particular fix isn't the answer.

The problem remains that the gauge ground stud loses continuity with the PCB pad or trace.
