engine and drivetrain refurbishing seat belts?

Is it possible to dissassemble, lube, tighten and reassemble the seat belts in late 02's? I seem to remember no, but it's been a while since I paid attention to the goings on in 02 land.

(My car made it's re-maiden voyage on saturday, it's sat awaiting an engine rebuild for over 2 years. I forgot how much fun it is to drive.)

You might be lucky to do that one! I would recommend not to attempt disassembly etc. New ones were available last I recall. Good used ones can be obtained as well. Never compromise your safety. You already knew that though.

No, not really in my opinion. Don't attempt it. You wouldn't believe how explosive that little spring is inside there. I made an attempt, and it took me several hours to wind the spring back up, and it didn't really help.

My curiosity got the best of me and ---KABLAMO--the whole thing is toast. Just find a suitable replacement or new.
