reverse light does not work...what's to troubleshoot?

My tranny is a Getrag 245. Could it be the reverse swith? where is it located? The bulbs have been checked.

It could be the reverse light switch which is located ontop of the tranny close to the bell housing on the driver side.

I think you'll find the switch at the end of the gearbox facing the diff.

bulbs are ok but check your fuses just in case.

the brake light switch sits on top of the tranny towards the front near the bell housing. It is just a two prong switch with hot 12+v running through it (it doesn't matter how you connect the wires to it). Check that. That is your most likely culprit.

Does your shifter 'click' over to the far right or drop a bit when you engage the gear or is your shifter setup sloppy? Maybe it's just not engaging...

Item 11 is the switch.

Back end of the gearbox, drivers side where the selector thingie goes in.

I snipped off the old ones and got some new pink ones at autoparts store that had built in shrink tubing--fixed me right up.

Interestingly on my 6 Fuse car, this "short" at the backup light switch also killed the indicators, but not the hazzards---go figure.

Tap the wires into your coil. That way, when you rev the motor the reverse lights flash.

Armond. I just had this exact issue with my car last week. It was indeed the connector just by the tranny, one of the wires had come loose. Five minutes of work and I was good to go.

With the key on, the reverse lights should come on.

on separate circuits. Hazard lights work all the time. Turn signals work only when the key is on (via Fuse 6).
