325e are a 2.7liter 3500/4000 rev imit

325i/325is are a 2.5liter 7000 rev limit.

The i motors are the sought after because they rev.

people combine the two. they use the 2.7 bottom end with the i cylinder head.

combine the dispalcement of the e motor(bottom end) with rev characteristic of the i motor(cylinder head)

There's alot of info you'll have to search.

For the turbo, you'll be well off buying the book Maximum boost by Corky bell

Everthing you need to know is in there.

It helps you understand everything there is to know as well as designing your own turbo system.

e30tech.com also has a ton of info on turboing the m20

From what I have read the way to go for a turbo is go with a 2.7 e bottom end and a 2.5 i head this will give you around 7-1 compression and then you can boost the shit out of it. e30tech.com has a wealth of information as does strictlyeta.net. There are several bolt on turbo kits available for the m20 including a nice set-up from www.cartech.net they advertise a non-intercooled set-up for $2,995 and an intercooled kit for $3,895.

Cheers

the block on the E class engines only use 3 bearing journals instead of 5 on the I and IS engines. if you are going to look for massive horse power then you might want to make sure the block will be able to take it before going too wild.
