Original stereo/speaker grille question

Can anyone with an original stereo/speaker mono grille like pictured here tell me whether it should be flush with the hazard/ashtray plastic piece or does it sit "out" about 5-10mm? When i just installed this stereo ...i can make it line up flush but it's under a little tension and i may need to work on the screws a little bit. It seems to want to jut out a few mm's so the "top bevel" is exposed. I can't tell from the pics i've found on the internet and in original articles/brochures i have.

mine looks like yours...set out a little. I believe it is the original factory mounting.

Mine came with the car. (1805 Touring,'74) although the radio may be later 1979. I believe ccr's came with the radio. He will have to confirm or deny that.

It sits out a little it just to catch some of those ashes that miss the ashtray.

Yours looks correct.
