320i rear drums + early steelie wheels = !@#$%^&@!

Recommended Posts

My 68 2002 came to me with OPEL steel wheels and the original steelies and 2 piece hubcap/trim rings in the trunk. Shortly after arriving from CA in 2005, I developed a leaking rear wheel cylinder. I decided to upgrade to larger rear 320i drums based on advice from the FAQ. Fast forward to now..I had the original wheels (Prod 4/68 - SUDRAC) blasted, primed and painted Polaris, got new 165R13 Tires, NOS trimrings and nice hubcaps in an effort to return to the early "1968 look" before heading off to V@V this week. BAD NEWS -- The steelies do not fit over the rear 250MM drums....I don't recall anyone having problems with the rears--only the fronts w/ caliper clearance...

Anyone else successfully run 320i drums with early steelie wheels?

Thanks,

Ben
