I took the plunge. sort of the good bad and ugly. the body is ok, 2 litre w/45mm webers, chrome dash, have the missing parts, factory sunroof, built dec 8, 1967 sold in Germany, authentic ti, the thorough white paint is over Polaris metalic, very sad. I guess with the Alpina flares and the big brakes, I should keep it a 2liter, Alpina wanabe?

congratulations!!!

i considered that car for a bit as i have yearned for a real ti ever since reading about them. good thing it was a fair distance from me and coupled with the fact that i have collected just about 95% of all the ti-specific bits to make a clone, including distributor, carbs AND proper linkage.

i wish you were closer, i'd love to set eyes on a real one someday. it'd be great if you'd start a project blog.

keep us posted. there's a fair bit of info on a german website regarding the carbs, linkage and other stuff. google Solex PHH and you'll find it.

Sweet! I see some real potential there. I'd recommend going back to Polaris though.

Install a roll cage, seatbelt harness, fat sticky hoosier tires on wide rims and head straight for the track!

From all reports the Polaris was renowned for going dull and ratty looking, so BMW would respray under warranty free of charge. Maybe this was the prefered repalcement color?

mine's got the original paint in the engine bay, so I don' think it was a warranty job - you wouldn't be happy if it was! You can also clearly see how the silver dulled over time.
