steering box question

BLUNT

Recommended Posts

its a little late for this but i really didnt think about it till now. i rebuilt my close ratio steering box with new seals etc. the part im concerned with is the shimmed side. i put the shims back in as they came out but i didnt use any type of sealer in between them. i didnt think about it. are they self sealing or is it going to leak like a sieve once i fill it up?? i hate the thought of pulling it back out

i resealed my steering box and did not do anything different than you described. my box has been in the car, filled with oil, and no signs of leakage. i have not DRIVEN the car yet, but, no drips, to date.

your mileage may vary....

fill 'er up and don't look back

i did the same thing...

Didn't see any signs of sealant on removal, so I fixed the rusty bits and back in they went. So far, its been back together for about a month and a half, filled w/ fluid, no leaks.
