"Mitch" aka DukeRimmer has passed away...

Recommended Posts

I was just up at Mitch's place buying some E3 front brake calipers less than a month ago. E3 calipers are the same as a tii caliper and he gave me a great deal on some calipers and threw some extra parts in for free. This is a win win situation for me because I own both an E3 and tii. He tried to sell me some 100+ 5 lug alloys for $100 bucks. I would have bought them if I didn't already have a set of Alpina's in my garage. We started talking about old BMW's and before we knew it, an hour had nearly passed by. He said he was going to go into the hospital for some surgery in the next week and was looking forward to coming back to work. This is definately a real shocker to me.

The old school BMW community will miss his knowledge/parts and good humor. Besides helping out the 2002 community, he helped out many a E3/E9 owner as well. Mitch, you will be missed.

Sorry to hear that.

Looks like he was a great enthusiast, always willing to help out others here on this little community we've built up on this board. He was always offering parts and advice to faquers trying to maintain their cars on a budget.

He'll be missed...

I'm sad to hear of his loss. Purchased a few odd bits from him from time to time that it seems only he could identify.

His extensive knowledge is a great loss to us all.

My condolences to his family.

To the Friends and Family of Mitch,

This is such a kick in the stomach to hear about him. From his knowledge and efforts we all have benefitted, evenmore so his character of his manner that he governed himself, he will be an impossibility to replace. It is even more frustrating that we being the do it yourselfers ourselves are helpless about this. Are rare as life is, despite what we face everyday, he reminds us of what we can do and how we carry ourselves everyday.

While I didn't know Mitch in person, it's still a shock--his was a familiar name on here and he was always very helpful. My prayers definitely go out for his family and friends.

My condolences to the entire family and best wishes during this difficult time. I purchased several parts from DukeRimmer and every transaction was a quality part at a fair price. He will be surely missed.

All the best,

Jeff

RIP Mitch.

My condolences to his family and friends. This is certainly a great loss to the '02 community. The fashion in which he conducted himself here on the faq and at various '02 events serves as a great model for us enthusiasts. I'm quiet certain all of us will miss his wealth of knowledge.

Unknown to me, I emailed him on Thursday for a part! I was thinking that I could just go to Santa Cruz and pay him a visit - as I thought that it would be cool to meet him...I will miss his presence in the FAQ.
