I had a 86 CRX Si back in 87 that I bought with 4k on it. Sold it with 130k+ on it with the original clutch. Only thing I ever had to change was the battery, starter & alternator with regular maintinence and I drove the sh*t out of it. Loved that car!!

It seems harder to find an unmolested Hondas these days than an unmolested 02.

i bought a new 87 crx and like your's, never had a single problem other than front brake pads...i also had an 87 prelude that i drove 329k miles and the only repair ever made was a power window motor and timing belt...

the crx was and still is one of my all time favorite cars

I like the CRX's too. Unfortunately, at 6ft.2in. my head goes through the roof. I remember riding in one down in West Palm Beach w/my wife's cousin. He drove it very fast and scared me since he spent more time checking out the girls along the waterfront than he did watching the road. It was a fun car.

fanatical a following... (several CRX message boards on-line)

I've owned two CRXs, both 85s and both bought as winter beaters--bought cheap, sold at a profit with minimum cleaning and tinkering. Both were ultra reliable, never had to do much mechanically and an absolute picnic to drive. If I wasn't into 2002s, I'd have an '87 SI as a daily driver...last year for the short wheelbase and the SI engine...

Have fun with your new toy.

Those are 2 Honda's I don't see very often, around here at least. I used to work with a couple people in the later 1980's that had the CRX., one was a lady that drove the car pretty hard. You can do just about as much with those as a 2002. What's the verdict on the 2002? was it a bad brake booster diaphragm?

Yeah, but in all fairness, most BMW techs cringe at the sight of our cars.

maybe they do but i've owned a 1/2 dozen hondas and currently own 5 of them...they have been the most dependable & trouble free, lowest cost to maintain and use cars i've ever owned
