how in the heck do i remove the center grill from a square

tail car, once the dang threaded part starts spinning with the nut???

this cheapskate is afraid what the answer might be...

i don't have any needlenose vice grips to hold the thread.

if you can reach up inside there, you can probably cut off the rusty bolts with a pair of dykes or tin snips...otherwise, at the risk of bending your grill base, rock them back and forth ot up and down until they break

I replaced mine over the weekend. The top nut was turning with the screw and after 30 minutes of reaching up under through the headlight area and damn near cutting my arm off it occured to me that my I was getting no where.

I pulled the grille from the top front until the plastic broke.

If you do that push the metal back to it's original position before attaching your new grille. Chec to see if the grille is flush to the body before fastening on.

I had the same thing happen; I was able to reach in using a die grinder equipped with a large carbide burr to eliminate the bolt / nut without damaging anything else.
