14" x 5.5" E30 steels refinished in Wurth silver and clear, ET35 with Sumitomo HTR H4's in 185/65-14.

Even with the extra offset (vs. an ET of 30), there is no rubbing. Pretty close at the tierod ends and the upper strut, but still clear. A different profile tire could very easily rub. Fortunately, these Sumis clear the suspension bits. I may look into some 2.5 or 5mm spacers.

These will end up being the summer and vinatge rally shoes, but until I get the factory alloys refinished these will be it for daily driving. Now I just have to hope I find some sort of center caps in my stocking.

Thanks Cris (and Bubba) for all the help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

very nice old-skool look...

the alternative to highpriced Borrani/Alpina steelies

i do like that look

i refinished a set of stock steel rims for my car and never got around to installing the hubcaps and the more i look at them, the more i like the raw look of the naked rims. i think having fresh paint makes the difference.

I would never put those rims on one of my cars NEVER !!!

You said it.

ONE of my cars.

So, you have them on two of your cars?

Or was it never never being a double negative?

Tom, $12 each for a centercap???? You know what a cheap SOB I am. Time to hit the hardware store. Maybe the Container Store has some nice chrome containers I can hack up and silicone in place.

I almost threw them in my trunk but Bubba saw it coming.

Don't lie, you have sooooo much crap in your trunk that you need air shocks to lift it back up.

Mike, that's yet another of your cars that inspires lust and envy in me. Is it Fjord or Polaris? The steels really set it off nicely, especially with the small bumpers sans rear overriders. It's a very Euro look. Of course, the 13" bottlecaps are very nice, too.

And Steve, the red car's looking pretty good. I hadn't seen many pics of the post-crash reconstruction. I still have the little orange car you sent me a few years back--it'll go on the tree as usual this year. :-)
