Depends on how good the tranny is. I bought an excellent one for 1500 a couple of years ago. I would use that as a mid point.

This 5 speed came out of a car that was purchased in England and brought over hear by a GI. I have had it setting in my shop for ~12 years. I have gone thru it and replaced the syncros and sliders. The drive shaft is the one that came with it from the factory. I want to sell it to finance a Jerico for my racing. This has a 69 date on the bell housing. I want $ 2500 for it. G

if you have the original shift platform and shift rod, you should include those as well. i bought a C/R 5spd off ebay about a year ago w/ D/S and shift linkage. it's a crap shoot on ebay but i paid about $1700 shipped. i was happy to see the original BMW OEM orange part sticker still intact on the housing, though.
