First I have to say am glad to be back in the owners club again. It has been 22 long overdue years since I had my 76.

Well two ex wives, a military career and 5 kids later I said "now it's my turn"

Recently picked up a completely stock 73 from the original owner That has not seen a winter since 1975 and has been serviced by BMW every year.

Here is the first of many questions I believe I will have

I am really a neophyte when it comes to rims and the Off set and Backspace numbers/measurements and I was lookign for some guidance want to put rims and tires from a 1977 318 to my 73 2002.

Here are the info on the model I want to put on the 73:

Description and Specs.

Wheels Size:   13x5.5

Offset ET 20mm positive.

Bolt Patterm: 4x100.

Tire Size:  205/60/13

My 73 has the stock metal rims at

5JX13 ET:29

??

Any known issues or a good link to find out more what I am facing?

Thanks

welcome to the fold . . . Thank You for your Service

pretty simple and it's very subjective,

they will bolt/nut right on,

just mount your 318 rim/tires on the o2,

you drive it for a week,

and report back your findings about steering wheel effort?,

how the car feels then on turn-in to corners?,

ride quality?, the cars reaction to bumps?,

any loss in the crisp/tight/steering response/feed back

with the 318 parts?, any rubbing/noises?

You tell us if you like the Original BEFORE,

or AFTER.

and try starting with 26F - 26R psi tyre pressures

oh and p.s. alloy rims need a different taper lug nut,

available from any BMW dealer, or many other stores,

because of the diff. lug nut hole on the rims. You want good

contact between the nut and rim so you don't loose one!

Your really looking for an off set of ET 29 to 33

for 'correct' fit

Hello,

I have a 73Tii with a set of the same rims, Toyo 205 60 13 proxies, new stock tii springs and bilstien sport shocks. My ride height is much too high and I have a bit of rubbing in the back. I have kmac camber plates in the front, and some minimal camber adjustment available in the back but not much.

What spring/ shock etc.. set up do you have and or any suggestions?

I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks a lot,

Marshall Coles
