I plucked this baby out of SoCal in 2005. They are still out there.

Very nice! Great vintage sport wheels.

I miss my `69 1600. $2200 in January of 2000. I drove it until the tail end of a Cadillac totaled it in 2005. I miss how well the headrest-less seats made great armrests.

I have owned the car for about 2 years now and the previous owner had it shipped out here(Tampa) from California where it had been owned and reg. (I believe) it's whole life. I have the original black plates (CA)and "pink sheet". I also have the original owner's manual but it has no indication of place of purchase. I tried to do a little back ground check of the VIN# but could not find anything. I would love to know if this car was one of the original few first sold on the West Coast.

I have the original title from mine, #1517644, from Los Altos, CA which it spent its entire life (still in the local area w/me in Santa Clara). If you email BMW Mobile Tradition they can give you info on the VIN like exact production date and location/delivery date to the USA which is almost certainly Max Hoffman motors in NY. From there they got distributed out across the US. Also for dates you can look at the stamp on the wheels (assuming they are original), fuel tank sensor, and instrument cluster (back side). Mine are all stamped 1/67 or 2/67 and the car was built in 2/67 so they match up.

Is your car 6-volt (or was it before)? I believe they stopped making the 6v cars in mid-67 or so.
