engine and drivetrain 1976 BMW 2002 /Smog equipment / Different engine

Have a 1976 2002 without any smog equipment. Have had it in storage since required to pass smog inspection. Would like to get the car back on the road. Not sure if I will be able to locate all the equipment needed. Any ideas? What other size BMW engine will fit?

In some states cars registered as classic are exempt from smog. This may be an option if you just want to drive it on the weekend, rather than a daily driver.

It appears that he is in San Luis Obispo, California. Where all 76 02s are considered evil and must be punished with smothering smog devices....
