Road trip

Recommended Posts

Took a ride to Traverse City. Came across this little ditti along the way in Arcadia.

I know it is not like you Cali boys/girls do it. Coming from us northern hicks but, it was refreshing to stumble on and a added bonus to the road trip.

My first car was a 66 MGB and then I graduated to a 79 Triumph Spitfire; always have a soft spot for British Leyland: once I got the Triumph running correctly, I was promptly t-boned by a speeding Jaguar XJS...nice photos, though!

I was just up there (Grayling nearby to the east) w/ BSA troop 193, canoeing along the Au Sable River. Traverse City looks to be maybe 30 miles from Grayling. I did not see any interesting cars in Mich. Oh well.

I commend you, 193. a great group.

You are a good man.

Au Sauble, how is it after the storms that ravaged our State.

You were here. If you were in Michigan you must know the guys out of Grayling.

They fly out of Grayling with the Warthogs, they are based out of Grayling and fly the lakeshore at low subsonic speeds and about 90 Ft above the sand dunes. Nobody reports them as they are locals.

These are our boys.

Take a jet ski for a 72 MPH ride on the lakeshore and you will have the Coast guard ripping on you. (were did they get a watercraft faster than ours ). These guys are slick.

Yeah, we did notice a lot of wind damage along stretches of the river with sheared off trees for several miles. When was the storm that did all the damage? Too bad. We did not see the warthogs, but we did hear tanks at Camp Grayling and heard many artillery rounds fired off. Saw lots of military personnel in the Grayling area. The Au Sable is a beautiful river. The scouts had a very good time up there.
