"The Stance Thread"

Just adding to the thread here...

I've got Rota RBs in 15x7 et25. Car is lowered on eibach springs and bilstein shocks. I forget the tire size so I'll have to add that later.

I dig the look but would like to sell these and get some BBS in a similar size like I had on my other old 76.

Before you go cutting springs, it looks like you probably have the aluminum spacers at the top of your struts--they were required for US bumper- or headlight-height requirements beginning in 1971 or 1972. Removing them is an easy way to drop the front a bit. You can swap them onto the top of the inner fender to keep the studs from looking too long up there.

I couldn't figure this one out until andy from bav auto stopped by my buddys shop and told him what they were for. The date on my spacers say they were installed in '76 and its a '73. so strange... easy mod though. looks much better removed.

Front: IE coilovers bent and shortened strut housing, Bilstein Sports (rabbit), 7" 300lbs springs, and offset roll-center spacers. In this shot the coilovers are dialed to its highest setting.

Rear: Bilstein sports with IE stage 2 springs and 1 dot spring pads.

Wheels: Compomotive TH1380 13x8 et-10 with Sumitomo 205/60/13r tires.

Pardon the dust. Front windshield is getting replaced. It was already cracked, so while prepping for paint I said F it and painted pass the gaskets.

Do E30's and 2002's have the same roundel mounting points? I have those roundels for my E30 but wondered how they would look on an '02

*answered my own question. yes.

The '76 spacers are 3/4" where the earlier ones are 1/2".

Honestly I think that's where I got them. I rocked them on my 325 until it was totalled a couple years back and they held up great. The rear one even got pinched in the wreck but managed to stay intact. Maybe a decline in quality? Different manufacturer?

  • 1 month later...

put these new wheels on today....

Zender 15x7 on some Nexen 195/45 tires.

(Note that my previous Rota RB 15x7 have 195/50s and there is definitely a rub on the front wheel wells under hard bumps. These new 195/45 are absolutely a perfect fit)
