22 years old and so far I've owned:

-2001 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro 5-spd (still have used to be my daily - now it mostly sits)

-1987 VW Jetta 8v, Coupe (crushed)

-1973 Ford Maverick coupe, 302 (sold)

-2000 Honda CBR F4 (sold)

-1979 Suzuki GS750 (currently have, cafe racer style)

-1983 BMW 320i (sold for parts)

-1971 BMW 2002 (current daily/project)

The '02 is my daily and project, so most of the stuff I do to it takes no more than one day. If it's put out of commission for more than a day, then the audi takes over daily duty. The other way I decide which car I'm going to drive is based on which one has gas in it. The suzuki is on hold until I get the 2002 done enough to fix the bike. All I really need to do is adjust the valves and rebuild the carbs, but I haven't gotten around to it. And I let the registration expire on me.

I'm 55 and almost never owned a car until I was 40, (aside from a Blimpie delivery van I had in college). Yes I live in NYC! I liked cars until I was 15 and then working with music took up my life until I had a kid and couldn't go to the beach one summer weekend.

First car I bought in 1995 was a 1985 Mercedes 300TDT (diesel wagon) great car, but I cracked the head and the costly repairs made me want to move on.

My neighbor down the hall who was an investor in parking garages gave me a free indoor parking space so after a year or so of looking I bought a 1964 Ferrari 330 2 + 2 in 2000.

The Ferrari was often broken so I bought a 1972 911t.

Wanted a more exciting Porsche so I bought a 1973 911E targa on ebay. One of the worst experiences of my life. The car was as misrespresented as is possible. Never again. Sold both Porsches in disgust.

Bought a 1974 2002 Turbo in 2008. It just spent two years in a shop but hope to get it back soon.

The Mercedes wagon was replaced in 2006 by a 2001 Audi S4 wagon. This was stolen outside a Barnes and Nobel in NJ and found burned up in Newark.

My brother who always wanted to be in the mob had a friend who was selling a 1999 BMW 528 wagon. For some reason I listened to him. The "friend" of course was nothing of the sort and as it turned out the car had been in a serious accident years before and so developed expensive to repair and hard to diagnose issues that resulted in random periods of no brakes!

I sold it in 2010 after finally fixing all that and bought a 2006 Audi A4 3.2, which hasn't so far, made my life at all complicated.
