Very nice Pat.

I had a NOS Becker but couldn't find the period correct grill until 2 months ago. A super sweet deal NOS grill and speaker. It would make you sick to see what I paid for them. I almost got them for free.

nt

The thing that will really make you sick is the T34 radio and faceplate. If you are into T34's you know the faceplate alone would bring in $500.

I paid $950 for a 1963. Ouch.

When I was a kid my parents had a sweet Gundig home stystem, am/fm/sw/phonograph in a fine wood case with built in speakers. I wish I still had it.

i had an uncle with such thing too, it was quite big, like 6-8' long probably.

the speakers has some sort of tunel to extend the bass, that was a 60' system, quite advanced for its time. I remember it was playing very great...it ended up in a garbage truck....aouch !

well, initialy i didnt had any plans. stock.

but, since ALL blau radio has this nice feature in the back to interfere with the line output, i may put a iPod input device, that i will do of my own for sure.

And, since it is the "stereo" type, it means it has two power amp in it, "power" beign relative...

I have only one speaker...i may end up doing a litle interface to invert the polarity of one channel and use it as a bridged mode power amp...ie, both amp works together, but out of phase so i get 4x the power output. i may get 20w at maximum since theses amps are very uneficient.

The stock speaker is fine imho, i dont want to make a rasta 1000w 8sub system, i already did give enough of my elbow juice in that when i was young...

Last "real" system i had was made with 4 V12 power amp and 8 12" sub into a ....Ford escort, go figure. 138db...that is back in 1994 iirc, lol...i think i have a picture of that somewhere...picture is me with the angel from accelevision company, when i was going to CES often to fullfill my car audio adiction...

EDIT: please note my pass that says "exhibitor"...

The reason for me asking is that I have exactly the same Frankfurt stereo radio in the tii with the iPod connector and the 2 speakers in the panel under the rear seat. Very clean setup, not a concert hall, but very acceptable sound.

In the voll cabrio however, I was planning on replacing the original mono Blaupunkt with a Frankfurt stereo which I recently bought on ebay for about 1/10th of the $1,100 (!) mentioned above. The mono does not have the aux input for the iPod and the stereo Frankfurt does. The panel under the rear seat in the cabrio, however does not have the holes for the speakers and I wasn't sure on how to connect a stereo radio to just one speaker.... Not that I understood much of your electronic explanation .... I was hoping that there exists a speaker that has 2 (L & R) in 1, something like a siamese twin ... that I can put behind the stock speaker cover

such speaker does indeed exist, but as far as i know, only very high power subwoofer has dual coils.

worth a check on the net, but id be very surprised to find 4x6 speaker with dual 4 ohm coils.

the bridging thing that i am talking about is super simple. It could be just a dongle DIN plug that you connect at the back of the radio. What it uses is a OP amp to change the phase of one channel. Probably 2$ worth of electronic parts.

I will surely post my work once i will be there.

No, but to this fool it was. I can't believe it.

Some people just have to have it or they get caught up in the bidding frenzy. I use to get in that frenzy but have wisened up.

I had one of the those fake woodgrain center consules for the VW beetle. The one that mounts on the tranny tunnel and holds coins, glasses and such. It is a 70's option. This guy on Fleabay must of wanted it bad as he paid $865.00 for it. I paid $25.00 for it. I couldn't believe there were seven other bidders so I bought 3 more of them and emailed the three higher bidders and sold it to them for $500.00 each. I should feel bad but if you are that crazy or in my eyes stupid then Well .......

My car also has a Becker Europa II radio, but the faceplace doesn't have any markings for the knobs. There is a fader switch in the Behr A/C console, along with a rectangular amplifier behind the glovebox. The PO installed (4) Kenwood speakers with plain covers. It sounds pretty good, but the Becker tuning dial sometimes sticks.

RE: VW accessories - nice selection! Tissue holder and decklid light were very popular. I have a photocopy of an old Empi catalog that has some interesting items.
