Tii Gurus: need tuner on/near Central Coast CA

Hey All,

We've got a client at work with a long sitting '73 Tii, that is looking to get it back on the road again and is looking for a good tii specialist mechanic. Seems they tweaked the tuning to be smog legal years ago and now want to return the tuning back it to its proper glory. Local shops look at the kugelfischer and scratch their heads he tells me. All our cars are carbed so I don't know who to refer him to in these parts for the tii stuff. Any suggestions? North or South of here would be fine...he just wants a good tii guy to help with getting her back on her feet so there's no question it will be done properly. The car is in the Monterey Bay area.

Catalpa Street excellent. Also check with Bay Motor Works in Monterey. They used to be the go to guys on the peninsula.

I'm in Monterey too and for 20 years have been going to Monterey Bay Motorworks. I'm sure you know of them if you live in Monterey. Jeff is the guy to talk to, as he's an old hat at 2002's. Their number is 831-899-4742. He is exceedingly honest and trustworthy, though in recent years has become a bit reluctant to work on 02's. I'd definitely recomend giving him a try before going out of the area.
