Sorry I don't have one to offer - BUT:

Please add whether or not you need the fuel pickup assembly and if it is the (later) bolt-in type or (earlier) twist-in type.

pickup assembly (twis on 72 tii) is covered with about an inch thick of gunk .....Is it worth trying to clean?

The tank has a tear PO did a repair job with some gasket sealer or something...Oh well the tank leaks now.

The gas gage unit is also full of gunk. I would like to try cleaning everything my self then have the tank repaired. Any suggestions?

And yes the car has been sitting for about 6 to 8 years.

The tank design changed in 72/73, and some cars have had their tanks changed (like mine) over time.

Per the BMW Parts CD, the twist-in type pickup and tank arrangement was used in USA tii's from VIN 2760001 to 2761963. After that, the bolt-on pickup and tank set-up was used.

In your case, I would just make sure the seller includes the matching pickup with the tank.

Also, be aware the older type sealing ring for the twist-in tank is only available from BMW dealers (# 16121105332). The bolt-on type flat seal (# 16121110598) is available from aftermarket suppliers.

The varnish from fuel made for the last ten years will not clean with new gas. It must be hot tanked....Patching a gas tank with ?????. Please let us all know where you live to avoid driving behind you.....A plastic seam will seperate with the slightest impact. Have it hot tanked and welded.....
