My 197? 2002 Project (s) - AZ

This is my first post to the forum, and I'm really happy to have found this site!

I purchased two (essentially) basket case '02s from a young man on craigslist in Tucson, AZ this week. I paid $800 for the pair. I've always wanted an '02, after some great memories of a friend's in high school.

My goal is to get the one that is more complete back on the road first - hopefully by this summer. I also want to stop the "parts car" nonsense, and bring both back from the dead. Even if it takes a few years, it's about the journey, and not the destination, right?!?

One thing that has concerned me is the info I've seen on batteries for '02s. I've read they require lead-acid types. Is there a good aftermarket source for these, ie Sears Die-Hard, Optima, or others? I believe the PO has moved the battery to the trunk.

Cheers, and I look forward to posting more as things progress! - Paulie

Other than the B&W photo, the white one doesn't look too bad either, other than a few cosmetic/trim issues. Of course it's just one photo. I think it's a good deal either way with the blue one for the $800 you paid for both.

Here are a few more photos of my 2002, on the way to its new home in my garage.

The PO says the motor is "ruined", because he ran the car out of oil Not exactly sure what type of damage has been done. There is (very black) oil on the dipstick.

The interior is pretty trashed, after one of the windows was broken by a stereo robber.

Also, I'm wondering if anyone can identify the bushings that came in the big box o stuff that came with the cars.
