My 2800cs Race car project has started

Over the past couple of weeks I've pulled the remaining trim, lights, emblems, and other odds and ends off my 2800cs to get it to the shell. This past weekend I pulled the engine, transmission, and dropped both the front and rear subframes. It was quite a bit to do by myself in a weekend, but I got it done before the sun went down.

This car is ultimately going to be my dedicated track car. It won't be street legal, and quite possibly will get driven maybe a dozen times a year. It's an Automatic that I'm converting to a manual. I will be keeping the color, but may do something extra with the paint job. I realize it's not a 2002, but I thought some would appreciate it all the same. I'm not going to be updating weekly, but as things progress I may make a post here or there giving an update.

Sorry for the quality of these initial pictures, but I don't want to handle my DSLR with greasy hands. I've got a cheap Point and Shoot on the way from ebay shortly that I'll get better pics of progress with.

Hopefully less than a year. Realistically, probably about a year. I've owned this car for a few years now and have just let it sit covered in my driveway. I finally got the nudge from my girlfriend that I need to really do something with it, so I did. The initial work I want to do won't cost much, hopefully the roll cage will go in sometime around March/April, and I'll start in hard and heavy on the bodywork.

Here are the early bubble flares I'm looking to add to the car. A friend found them and showed them to me. I've grown quite fond of them after seeing the pic.

I am indeed looking to do coilovers. That is definitely a down the road decision. A friend has a 3.0cs that I'm taking a lot of tips from. I was going to work this past weekend to strip the engine bay and trunk down to metal, weld up extra unneeded holes, and coat it all in POR15, but alas, I ended up having to work on Saturday. Naturally the only clear day for weeks and I had to work.

The more immediate plans are to get things down to metal and getting rid of all the undercoating crap. Most of the cockpit has the soundproofing removed, but I need to get rid of what's left on the drivers side rear floor.
