Green touring, OH plates, dual headlights

Concept cars posted these pictures of cars at the Hilton Head Island Concours d'Elegance. I do not remember seeing this car there. I do not think it was. It has Ohio plates and most of the cars in the background have OH plates. The file name may indicate the green car's photo was taken in Cincinnati, OH.

Does anyone know the car, the owner, the venue?

Please excuse me if I have violated some right of the photographer, I tried to give credit.

I've never seen this one. Very nice, I would have remembered it if I did spot it. Wonder if Mike Self has seen it somewhere? He judges at some car shows. Judging by the photos, it is the concours held in Ault Park each June. (in the Cincinnati area) My son and I go every year.

You can search by make and year. Click on the B then BMW at the right under popular searches then the year and model

This is nice. It looks like the car the BMW performance center owns.

That is John Watts car from Cincinnati. I met him last year when he

participated in the California marathon. He is a retired high school teacher

and restored the car himself. He is a very nice down to earth person.

He is part of the BMW vintage & Classic car Club of America.

It is a 72 Tii Touring that he painted a newer color.

I do not have a contact for him.

I will get in touch with Goetz from the BMWVCCA. Maybe we will see John and his car this year at Ault Park or Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. I know Goetz is trying to get some of his BMWVCCA members to the PVGP.

It would be nice if he could make it to Vintage at the Vineyards with it.

Yes, John Watts' car from Cincinatti, as already mentioned. We were on the '04 Classic Marathon and met John and his wife. Our "Friends of BMW" came in handy at the overnight in Blowing Rock, NC. He had a cracked intake runner and we were able to get him up and going on a remarkably rainy weekend morning. He knew nothing about the Club at the time, nor did he realize how rare his car(s) were. He also happens to have an Euro E28 M5, I believe he said it was blue, so very rare again. (as you probably know, all US and I think Canadian M5s were black/black or black/tan)

Super nice guy, great handlebar mustache!

John was very active in the CCA in Cinci in the late 80's when I lived there. He was working on this car when I moved away.

Ditto on all the accolades to John.

You should see his 1:43 bmw model collection he built!

Darn, I just learned this eve. at our local BMWCCA meeting that the touring is definitely owned by John Watts of Cincinnati. I also learned that it was orig. Inka before a repaint. Mike Self and George Thielen were up on the facts, but I have never met JW as far as I can tell.
