Great fun....Just poking around and found a 2002 racing in a Herbie movie. Check it out in this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x03AcZbUCSg Great Allman Bros music to go along with it. Enjoy, it should put a smile on your face. (I think it first shows up at the 2:30 mark.) Wonderful vintage race cars in this clip. Anyone know where they filmed this. Looks like a lot of SoCal roads. Maybe paramount ranch?

The 1st 2 minutes appear to be @ Laguna Seca, the orange prototype looks to be a Porsche 917, and, of course, the ending shots are @ Monte Carlo.

Guess I better not try to blow off any VW bugs.

Bob Napier

You are right, it is Laguna Seca. Filmed in 1977. The 917 is a VW kit car made to look like a 917. They filmed in Paris and Monte Carlo, so the countryside is probably France. The 2002 is a Ti. (Did a little homework, since I first posted)

Hmmm, I posted this picture before under the '02's in movies thread.

You are absolutely right, good catch....now you can see more of it in video.

Great clip. I'm adding the movie to my Netflix... been ages since I last saw any of the Herbie flicks! (aside from the new one - what a mess it was. Turned it off 20 minutes into it)

Amazing to think of the value today of some of those "other" vintage racers. 917s, Daytonas, etc.
